Christine:
You're right of course. Description is important and it does move the story. I usually skim through it but, I've been reading the descriptive prose because I need to be a better writer. So I now try to describe to myself, towns that I have been to or just Main Street and the shops and such. What houses look like clothing that my characters wear. I think I am getting better.
I write paranormal mystery love stories. I get to write all my favorites at one time.

Right now my internet is down and I am in the coffee shop.  Internet should be back up on Wed. I have a lot of stuff saved on my big lap top. I am using my netbook right now, so much easier to carry around.
For the paranormal I can more or less change any setting I want. I grew up in the Bronx and worked in Manhattan for nine years. I know more about the city then I do about the Bronx. I didn't leave my comfort zone to often and was always surprised that the Bronx was so big.  But the city is a different story, then again I can describe midtown but not great with downtown but I can change it because with a paranormal there is a change places are different because the humans, the supernatural, two natured, demons have taken over and magic does things to a town, city or villiage. I need to incorporate both the real and the fantasy. So, I am striving to do this.
Hopefully my internet will be working on Wed. and I can get down to work.
So I will say good bye for now.

I think I need to see how to get rid of this blog. Or maybe keep it as personal and my other with just my writing woes and good stuff. I will have to think on it.
I mean, this is the first time I am putting anything on it.

Let see I have my RWA Chapter meeting on Saturday in Charlotte. Its a bit of a drive and then some. Have to be there at 11 in the morning. My husband says that I need to get there on time and make friends. Sure, easy for him to say. When I tell anyone where I live they look at me with pity and go "Oh that is pretty far". So fa,r I don't know of anyone who lives out my way and there probably isn't anyone living this far out. I would like to check out  other chapters but again they are pretty far too. SC, Tenn, Ga. Ky. I can't get a break, but that is OK. The group that I joined seem really nice and they work hard. I think I will be happy with this group. Many are published and Angela Knight who did our workshop last year is a member and I know her and her husband, well I met her and her husband. The Albany chapter that I belonged to and still belong to does a workshop week-end every June. To continue;  a few of us from the chapter took Angela and her husband out to dinner and then the next day, Friday, started the workshops. We had a small reception in our rooms that night, Harriet, Debbie and I. That went very well I thought. Angela bought two enormous cakes for her husbands birthday and that added to the fun.
Annette Blair did the other have of the workshop. I really enjoyed talking to her. She is funny, and you see that through her books too. I thought it was a great workshop weekend and it was the second one I went too.
The year before we had Dianna Love and Sherilyn Kenyon. A laugh a minute and then we got down to the serious stuff. It was my first workshop, I didn't know anyone from the group, actually Dianna and I had emailed I think it was a contest or something and I wrote back and told her That I would see her in Albany, NY in June. She told me to make sure that I told her that I was there. She is one hell of a funny lady and so is Sheri. It was a fab intro to workshops and meeting other writers for me.
I missed this years workshop and I know that it was great. We had already moved to NC. but we had to come back because the truck we rented was to small so I could have gone to the workshop but I didn't have a car and there was no way I was driving a 17 footer U-Haul to Troy. Alas that truck was to small. Ray will go up to NY when i return from FL. Driving his new truck, He said that he will probably have to get one of those little guys from U-Haul and load it up and come back home. I would go with him but the all the bedrooms are rented and I don't want to sit in a truck for all those hours of driving. Coming back from Englewood, Fl will enough for me. the other reason is that I would have to get a baby sitter for the cats. I think we have spent enough money all ready. When I go to FL I will be staying with my cousin, so no cost, at least not there. We are spending four days in Orlando. Have to see the Mouse.  Maybe go to the Not So Scary Halloween party that Disney has. The tickets are cheaper and you can get in to the park at 4PM and its open until 11 or 12.  The first time we went it rained, it was October and while it wasn't cold it was very wet. Disney is having the Not So Scary on 9/14 We shall see what the weather is like and if there are any tickets left. They open the park to only a certain number. T and I will check it out.
Enough for tonight, its late and I have to do a bunch of things tomorrow.

I am thinking of heading out to Asheville and seeing if there are any writing groups that I can join. Right now I belong to three chapters. NY, NC, and mystery which is on line only. Come March I don't think I will be paying dues to NY. I won't be going back there for a long time.

We are settling in pretty nicely I think. Ray has his comfy leather chair. We have a friend who will do up our staircase to the family just right. Just need to paint the bedrooms and decide if we really want to keep three bedrooms or go to two and a house office for me. I have the one room cabin that has electricity and a fan so I can keep a little cool in the summer and then bring in a heater for the winter months if that is were I want to write. I haven't decided yet. I want to be able to write anywhere I am. I  don't want to paint myself into a corner that oh no I can't write anyplace else. So will keep doing what I am doing.
